The Central Supplier Database (CSD) is National Treasury's single register of all suppliers to government. Every South African organ of state — national departments, provinces, municipalities, SOEs like Eskom, Transnet, Sasol and PRASA — is legally required to procure only from CSD-registered suppliers for contracts above R 30,000.

Registration issues a unique MAAA supplier number that appears on every tender submission and every payment. Without a MAAA number, your tender is disqualified before it's even opened.

Amashad handles the full CSD registration — from creating your profile and linking your CIPC, SARS and banking details, to submitting for National Treasury verification and confirming your active MAAA reference.

About Central Supplier Database (CSD) Registration

CSD verification is automated: National Treasury cross-checks your company against CIPC (for legal existence and directors), SARS (for tax compliance status), and your bank (for account ownership). Any mismatch — a stale CIPC director record, expired tax compliance, wrong bank branch code — will block registration.

Amashad reviews and repairs these mismatches before submitting — a common reason DIY CSD registrations get stuck. If your SARS tax status is non-compliant, we can bundle a Tax Compliance Pin request into the CSD workflow.

Your CSD profile must be updated annually and whenever directors, shareholders, banking or tax status changes. We offer an optional CSD maintenance retainer for active tenderers.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is CSD registration mandatory?

Yes for any company doing government business above R 30,000. Below that threshold it's optional but still recommended to appear on the preferred supplier lists.

How long does CSD verification take?

3 to 7 business days once submitted, provided your SARS, CIPC and banking data all match. Mismatches can extend it by weeks.

Do I need to be tax compliant to register on CSD?

Yes. Your SARS tax status must be compliant. If it's not, we bundle a Tax Compliance Pin request first.

Does CSD replace the old NT database?

Yes. The Central Supplier Database replaced all separate departmental supplier databases in 2016 — one register serves the entire South African public sector.
